The Suzuki Savage LS650 (from 2005 named Boulevard S40) is a simple –and not particularly attractive- lightweight cruiser motorcycle produced by Suzuki since 1986. The Savage’s engine is a ~30 HP, 40-cubic-inch (652 cc), four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, SOC. Apart from some slight cosmetic changes, the LS650 remained unchanged for decades. The most noticeable change in 1993 was the introduction of a 5 speeds gearbox instead of the 4speed one. Given these specs, this bike is almost unknown in Italy, where I live. The engine is considered to be a geared-for-in-town performance torquer style of motor, delivering decent performance at moderate revs compared to most Japanese motorcycle engines. Ryca Motors, based in East LA, is a specialist in recovering from this simple machine attractive, light and funny special cafe racers. This is their last release.

A parte alcune lievi modifiche estetiche, la LS650 è rimasta invariata per decenni. La modifica più evidente, nel 1993, è stata l'introduzione del cambio a 5 marce invece che a quattro. Date le caratteristiche, non stupisce che questa moto sia quasi sconosciuta in Italia. Il motore è considerato l’ideale per l’uso cittadino visto che consente prestazioni decenti a regimi di norma più moderati rispetto ad alter moto giapponesi.
